Hip-Hop is currently in mourning following the death of renown podcaster Reggie Ossé a.k.a. Combat Jack.
The sad news broke on Wednesday that the lawyer and former hip hop exec turned podcaster passed away following a battle with colon cancer. In October, Combat Jack announced on Twitter that he is battling cancer. “In 7 years of podcasting, I’ve never missed an episode,” Reggie Osse wrote. “I got hit with some real life sh*t. I was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer. I was rushed to the hospital, had some pretty severe surgery.” He was very optimistic about beating cancer but now this sad news.
“Take care of your health. Your boy ain’t going nowhere though. We’re gonna keep doing this. Keep rocking with us,” he said. Jack also shared a photo of himself on his hospital bed back then. Throughout the years he has some big names on his Combat Jack Show including Just Blaze, NORE, and Damon Dash. Reggie came up in hip hop as a lawyer at Def Jam Records back in the 90s.
Some hip hop personalities have been reacting to his death including Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg. “Hip Hop has lost one of its most important historians and voices… we had serious ups and downs but I was so happy we had made things good… Rest In Peace to my friend Combat Jack,” Rosenberg tweeted.
