#Beefing Jay Z Says Drake Ain’t “Shining” On DJ Khaled’s New Single

Jay Z serves up some fresh beef on DJ Khaled’s new single “Shining” and his argument is that Drake is simply not shining.

It’s no secret that there is an ongoing beef between Jay Z and Drake and both rap heavyweights have been dropping subliminal disses at each other for at least the past two years. So far none of them have namedropped the other in any songs, but the subliminal disses are getting louder and clearer.

On Sunday night DJ Khaled released his new single “Shining” featuring Beyonce and Jay Z and on Hov’s verse, he chooses to go after Drake. Let’s take a look at the lyrics in Jay’s verse. “Whatever God give me, I’m cool / I’ve been winning so long it’s like alchemy / I’ve been playing cards with the house money / 21 Grammys, I’m a savage ni**a / I shouldn’t even worry, backward ni**as / 12 solo albums, all Platinum, ni**a / I know you ain’t out here talking summers, right? / I know you ain’t walking round talking down / Saying boss s**t when you a runner, right?” Jay Z raps while matching up his numbers against Drake’s.

Drake dropped a single last year title “Summer Sixteen” before embarking on his Summer Sixteen Tour with Future. The Toronto rapper did also took a subliminal shot at the rap legend on that single where he raps about wanting to be signed to Roc-A-Fella and now has basically turned into Jay Z. On his “Sneakin” single featuring 21 Savage, Drizzy also took a mild subliminal jab at the Roc Nation rapper “You ain’t own it right away, you had to wait on ni**as… Man, I’m only 29, have some patience with us,” he raps basically saying that Jay was like he before he became a hip hop titan.

Jay Z and Drake previously collaborated on singles like “Know Bout Me” and “Pound Cake / Paris Morton Music 2” so one may be asked why are they beefing now. Sources are saying that Hiv didn’t like how the Young Money rapper went after Meek Mill two years ago. That is also part of the reason why the hip hop mogul didn’t want to put on a verse on Drizzy’s Views single “Pop Style” with Kanye West.
