Jim Jones signs a new deal with Roc Nation and seemingly ending his long beef with Jay Z.
Roc Nation added the Jim Jones as the latest signee to its long list of veterans in hip hop which includes, DJ Khaled, The LOX, Fat Joe, and Yo Gotti. The Dipset rapper confirmed the deal on Instagram last night in what turns out to be a surprising move given his past issues with Hov.
Vic Medina of Roc Nation also confirmed the deal on IG by posting a photo of the 40-year-old emcee signing some paperwork. “It’s a done deal… Jim Jones/Roc Nation. #rocnation #vamplife,” Medina wrote. There is no word yet on whether this is a music distribution deal or a management deal, but most of the recent signees to the label have been management only.
Back in the early to mid 2000s both Jim Jones and Jay Z took jabs at each other during the Roc-A-Fella breakup. JJ also sided with Cam’ron over the fallout. “We were actually signed to Roc-A-Fella and you know through different things happening, everybody knows the history of that,” Jones said in an interview with TMZ.
The rap veteran also added that time heals all wounds and the deal with Roc Nation was done through a mutual friend of himself and Jay Z. “As time goes on they say wounds heal themselves and I’ve become more mature and become way more of a businessman,” he said. “I haven’t had a conversation with Jay, it was kind of done like the mob, it was sanction by Jay, but we have a real good mutual friend.”
Jim Jones also said he look forward to starting making music with Jay Z because he is now the leader of the family. I think we are looking forward to that too.
