Popcaan is now a free man. The dancehall deejay was arrested last night in Antigua following an onstage scuffle with a police officer.
The Unruly Gang leader was released and paid a small fine for a misdemeanor battery and also pleaded guilty to the charge. Popcaan, born Andre Sutherland, and his lawyer appeared in the Antigua and Barbuda magistrate court on Tuesday to answer to the charges. He pleaded guilty and was fined EC$1,000, which is roughly JM$45,000.
Urban Islandz previously reported that Popcaan was arrested early Tuesday morning while performing at the at the ‘Antigua Trades and Labour Union rally’ at Fort James Beach on the island’s capital St. John’s.
His performance was cut short after a fan stormed the stage and a police officer proceeded to remove him. Popcaan intervened and ended up in a light scuffle with the officer.
