Lifetime is working on a new Aaliyah biopic but her family strongly object to it and vowed to pull all the stops to block it from ever hitting TV screens.
Lifetime made the announcement earlier this week that filming for the production will get underway this summer and actress Zendaya Coleman will be playing Aaliyah in tbe biopic titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, off Christopher Farley’s best-selling biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.

According to TMZ, Aaliyah’s uncle and former manager Barry Hankerson says the family is furious with Lifetime because the network did not contact them before announcing the production.
Hankerson says the family is not against the idea of a biopic but believes it should be a big screen production because Aaliyah was a big superstar.
Fans of the late R&B star has also launched an online petition to recast the production and replace Coleman with someone else to play Aaliyah.
