Vybz Kartel Trial: DPP Asked Police To Stand Down After Defense Witness Arrest

Vybz Kartel murder trial resumes in the Home Circuit court today.

On Wednesday a major development took place involving the highly publicised murder trial when police officers aligned to the Organized Crime Investigative Division arrested key defense witness and adviser, Philpott Martin.

Vybz Kartel lead attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson cried fowl saying the police force is intimidating the defense. Tavares-Finson also said a number of equipments and a compact disc containing material relevant to the case were seized from Martin.

Police officers say they are investigating Philpott Martin for allegedly hacking into Digicel systems.

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Paula Llewellyn told the judge that she asked the head of OCID, Clifford Chambers, to stand down on their investigation until Vybz Kartel trial is over.

Justice Lennox Campbell told Tavares-Finson that he does not want to her about the matter again.

  1. The JCF struck a low blow with this – Kartel is a Jamaican and deserves to be treated fairly no matter the outcome – These are the things that make people loose trust.
