Tony Brevett, a founding member of The Melodians, is dead.
The iconic Jamaican musician passed away at the Florida Memorial Hospital in Miami last week Friday after a battle with cancer.
Brevett was in his late 60s at the time of his death.

Brent Dowe, another founding member of The Melodians, died on January 29, 2006 after suffering a heart attack at age 59.
In May of last year, Tony Brevett’s brother, Lloyd Brevett OD, a founding member of The Skatalites, passed away at age 80.
The Melodians is widely regarded as one of Jamaica’s greatest Rocksteady group’s. In the 1960s and 70s, they recorded a series of classics with priducer Arthur “Duke” Reid including Rivers of Babylon.
