Buju Banton Benefit Concert Plans For December In Tampa

Incarcerated reggae star Buju Banton support never dies despite his recent hefty prison sentence.

Banton and his legal team are still putting up a fight against the might of the US justice system. Attorney David Markus is moving to appeal the singer’s conviction in hope of having him release from behind bars or at least a lighter sentence.

Buju Banton’s camp will be hosting a benefit concert on December 3rd in Tampa, Florida. Proceeds from the concert will go towards the artist legal expense for his appeal.

Although the lineup for the show is not yet finalised, reports suggests that acts such as Glen Washington, Nadine Sutherland, Gramps Morgan, Jigsy King, Tony Curtis among others may perform on the show.

Buju Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was convicted on drug trafficking charges in February of this year. He was sentence to serve 10 years in prison following widespread appeal for a light sentence.

Banton began serving his sentence last week in Limestone County Correctional Institution in Groesbeck, Texas.

Buju Banton is scheduled to be released from prison on February 1, 2019.
