Corey Todd To Open The Building Under New Name, New Direction

A month after the well publicized split between Vybz Kartel and his former business partner Corey Todd, the American businessman announced that he will be opening the popular club under a new name and new direction.

According to reports reaching Urban Islandz, the club will now be called “Club Riddim” and will encompass a wide range of dancehall artist and audience, not the usual Gaza only.

According to Corey Todd, Club Riddim will often times feature artists such of Beenie Man, Jah Vinci among artists from The Alliance and other. He said he will be a spokesman for the club which is reportedly under ownership.

“Business is business, I am still a part of the team and I will ensure that Club Riddim will do what I set out to do in the beginning and that’s represent dancehall fully. I look forward to get all selectors including ones I haven’t been able to work with in the past such as Stone Love, Foota Hype, Boom Boom, Raz N Biggy, Jigsy, Mario C, the Fresh Team and even Tony Matterhorn.”

It is not clear who the new owners are, but it is rumored that Vybz Kartel may still be involve.

Todd said in his release that there will be no bias or hostility at Club Riddim going forward.

“Club Riddim will be 100 percent unbiased and not run like a patty shop. All artiste songs will play and the club will represent the authethic dancehall that is why the club can finally be deemed the official club of dancehall, this is what it should have been in the first place.”

According to Todd statement, Beenie Man will be hosting a weekly party dubbed Yaad Swag Thursdays.

“There will be more details about this night but it will be a real exciting night with crazy specials on rum.”

Todd also announced that there will be a series of parties aimed to cement Club Riddim as the official club of dancehall, including live performances from a wide array of artists and a weekend show dubbed Inclusive Saturdays.

“Every week, there will be a different artistes with the likes of Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Assassin, Aidonia, Busy Signal, Jahvinci, Blak Ryno, Sizzla, Lady Saw, Spice, Konshens and I Octane,” Todd said. “Inclusive Saturdays will take over New Kingston which means the same band whether purchased from Riddim or Quad can get you into both clubs so if you want to change the vibes from hardcore dancehall to reggae to house or hip hop can just walk over to Quad or vice versa. Rum mixes are still free all night for just $1,000 dollars and women $500 before 1 a.m.”
