Triple world record holder Usain Bolt recovered from a late start to score victory in yesterday’s Diamond League.
Bolt needed a late kick to win the 100 meters in 9.91 seconds, edging the former world record-holder and fellow Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell at the Golden Gala in Rome.
Powell was timed at 9.93 and Christophe Lemaitre finished third in 10.00.
This is the first time Bolt competing since he was beaten by American Tyson Gay last year August.
“I was so nervous I got a bad start and then kind of started to panic,” the 24-year-old said. “My coach will analyse the race. I was not proud of the race but I am getting there.”
