New York rapper Nas won himself and Emmy Award for his work on a Liberyian documentary “Survival 1.”
Nas, whose real name is Nasir Jones, produced, directed and scored the music for the film, which highlight the years of civil unrest in Liberia. “Survival 1? follows the journey of amputee victims of the Liberian civil war who form a soccer team and eventually be came champions.
“After all these years of making music, I am honored to have this be the first award I ever won of this magnitude,” Nas said of the win. “An Emmy before a Grammy. Crazy [bleep]!”
