Vybz Kartel fans are going in on former T.O.K member Flexx for his blazing criticism of the incarcerated deejay.
Kartel has been releasing a slew of new music in recent weeks and even reignited his old beef with Mavado. But this rush of new music put the spotlight on an old issue of whether or not he is recording music behind bars.
During an interview with Anthony Miller on ER last weekend, Flexx aired out his grouses on Vybz Kartel recording music behind bars. “I don’t understand how a man fi deh a prison and have so much songs a play and people out there hustling everyday in the studio, writing good songs, and dem can’t get them songs played,” the dancehall singjay said.
While it is true that Vybz Kartel was convicted of murder and is serving a life sentence, it’s also true that he has been recording music in prison. But this is not something new to the Jamaican music landscape since Jah Cure was recording music in prison while serving time for a rape conviction.
Vybz Kartel fans weren’t happy with Flexx’s remarks and has been actively tearing him down on social media since last weekend. There are also a handful of dancehall fans who agreed with his statement saying that Kartel should not be recording music in prison.
