Nicki Minaj pulls for her receipts showing herself paying homage to female rappers who came before her.
The “Megatron” rapper has received criticism for years for accusations that she not only not pay homage to female rappers before her, but also stole Lil Kim style and image. The later came from a photo shoot that she did where she made the same stooped down posed as one of Lil Kim’s iconic photos. Nicki Minaj previously stated that she was paying homage to Kim in the picture, but that wasn’t enough to quell the criticisms she has been getting hammered with over the years.
On Friday, Nicki went on a lengthy rant on Instagram where she called out the media and other critics for not putting enough respect on her name. Since making the post on IG, Nicki has been getting a lot of support from her fans and some of her peers in female rap like Megan Thee Stallion, Asian Da Brat, Kash Doll, Saweetie, and more.
“We love you fasho & it’s not everybody against nicki it’s US AGAINST EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!! you changed the game nicki & I want you to know nobody can do what you did you set the Bar to the highest level foreal… A TRUE ICON,” Asian Da Brat wrote.
“Love you nick!! Always… cause “i dnt even kno why these girls bother at this point”? (I thought i was all of that growing up saying that),” Kash Doll wrote.
