Buju Banton Addresses New Song Leak Thank Fans For Support

Buju Banton has addressed the leaking of a new song.

A new Buju Banton track surfaced online over the weekend, and it turns out to be an unauthorized leak. The singer posted a message on Instagram letting his fans know that he didn’t release any new music and then thank them for their support over the past few days since his release from prison. “We would also like to inform you that there has been no new music released by Buju Banton and absolutely no dubplate sessions set up as of now,” the statement reads.

The reggae singer received a hero’s welcome home when he arrives in Jamaica last week Friday for the first time in a decade. Banton spent seven years in federal prison in the United States for drug trafficking. Hundreds of fans lined the streets and converged at the airport to get a glimpse of the singer as he stepped on Jamaican soil.

“We thank each and every one of you for the outpouring of love for Buju Banton upon his return home,” Buju’s publicist, Ronnie Tomlinson, said. “Buju is humbled and filled with gratitude at all the well wishes, tributes, words of encouragement and would like to say thank you!”

Buju Banton is already working on his first post-prison album, due early next year. The Grammy-winning reggae singer is currently spending some downtime with his family including his daughter whom he had an emotional reunion with on Friday.
