Kendrick Lamar Won 6 VMAs Including Video Of The Year For “Humble”

Kendrick Lamar stuns the world when he won Video of the Year for his ground breaking video “Humble.”

The song and music video were the first to be released from Kendrick Lamar’s new album DAMN earlier this year and has been one of the biggest hits of the year so far. Not very often we see rapper’s win in this covetous category at the VMAs, but K-Dot has been breaking all types of records this year so his win is not surprising.

Kendrick Lamar went up against some big records like Bruno Mars “24K Magic,” Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful,” The Weeknd’s “Reminder,” and DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller’s “Wild Thoughts.” Kung-Fu Kenny went into Sunday night’s awards with the most nominations a total of eight. By the end of the show he won six of the eight making him the night’s biggest winner. This marks the first time that he has won the Video of the Year category. He also won a moon man for Best cinematography, Best hip hop Video, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects.

“Glory be to god everytime for giving us these amazing talents like my man say I ain’t nothing without my team Dave Free,” Kendrick said while accepting his award. “I’ve been rocking with this guy since I was 14 years old, he has always been a visionary, we always put out hits together, and he is one of the greatest visionaries today in the game. Dave Myers come on man… I think me and Dave Fee been wanting to rock with you since we were 14 years old you know what am saying so thank you for allowing us to take our thoughts and our wild imaginations to the next level. This guy has always been a genius, true pleasure for real.”

Kendrick Lamar also performed a medley of his singles “Loyalty” and “Humble” on the show as the opening act.
