M.I.A. Recording New Album ‘Matahdatah’ In Jamaica

M.I.A. is currently in reggae land. The British rapper has been in Jamaica since last weekend soaking up some sun and ocean.

Sources close to the rapper told Urban Islandz that the main purpose of her trip to the island is to do some recording for her new album Matahdatah Geejam Studios in Portland.

M.I.A. announced during the summer that her next body of work is titled Matahdatah. The album is due for released sometime next year.

M.I.A. is known for her hits like “Paper Planes,” “Swagger Like Us,” and “Boys.” The music video for the later was shot in Porr Royal, Kingston.

The London rapper has always been a huge fan of reggae and dancehall music. As for any possible collaboration with local artists, only time will tell.
