#BringBackOurGirls. Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the vicious militant group Boko Haram, has released video footage of the missing Nigerian girls.
Boko Haram captured the 276 young girls over two weeks ago. The kidnapping has sparked a global outcry for the safe released but that has so far not occurred.
This is the first peace of evidence showing that the girls are still alive but everyone still feared for their safety.
The video show the kidnapped girls converting to Islam, with headscarves and reciting an Islamic prayer.
The BBC has reported that two girls in the video said that they’ve been converted from Christianity to Islam.
“These girls, these girls you occupy yourselves with… we have indeed liberated them. These girls have become Muslims,” Shekau said in the video. “We will never release them until after you release our brethren.”
Abubakar Shekau says he is willing to release the girls in return for the 276 girls.
