“Mavado will actually be performing live on the show by himself which is a first for him,” said Jones-Griffith. “106 & Park’s producers say the audience are lovers of dancehall and said Mavado would be the perfect person to represent. The video for On Top Of My Game, a track he recorded with Brooklyn rapper Papoose, will also be featured as the New Joint of the Day. The “Lighters Up” video he did with Snoop and Popcaan will be premiering on Thursday so its going to be a dancehall and Gully week on 106!”

Jones-Griffith also added that Mavado will be featured on another recently added segment of the show but you will have to tune in on Friday at 6pm to find out what that is.

Mavado will be performing at an NBA ALL-Star Weekend event in mid February, with shows in Poughkeepsie, Albany and Orlando rounding out a busy month.

His new single “Rise Up” featuring Akon and Rick Ross will hit the streets in the coming weeks also. He recently shot the video in Jamaica for his UK #1 single Take It featuring Karian Sang.

“I’m just putting in the work right now,” said Mavado. “I’ve been in Jamaica recording many singles that have hit the ground running such as Million Dollar Man, March Out, Cant Happen and Mr Tek Whe Yuh Gal. I also did a song with Chronixx that people are anticipating. I’ll be getting back in the studio with Khaled and the Cash Money family real soon also so my fans can look out for even bigger tings in 2013.”

Look out for “Lighters Up” music video premiere this Thursday, featuring Snoop Lion, Mavado, and Popcaan.
