The late reggae/dancehall star Captain Barkey will be laid to rest this Thursday, November 8, in Kingston, Jamaica.
The funeral service for the “Go Go Wine” deejay will be held at the Hagley Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Kingston starting at 11 a.m. His body will be buried at the Jamaica Defence Force JDF headquarters at Up Park Camp in St. Andrew. Captain Barkey served in the JDF for several years before becoming a dancehall artist in the 1990s.
Captain Barkey, whose real name is Wayne Hamilton, and his female companion, Tracy Bennett, were shot and killed in Bronx last month by Bennett’s ex-boyfriend, Joseph Kernizan. Karnizan committed suicide a few days later after a police man hunt.
Barkey reportedly received several death threats from Karnizan prior to his death.
