The dancehall community is in mourning today following the death of Bounty Killer’s mother Miss Ivy Williams.
The dancehall icon’s mom passed away this morning at age 71. Her cause of death is still unknown.
Bounty Killer, whose real name is Rodney Pryce, made the announcement via Twitter this morning.
“RIP to the world’s greatest mom bcuz she gave the world the greatest man. Ms. Ivy Williams 1941-2012. Rest in peace mama. Love u more than ever and all ways life and death is the equation; it’s inevitable and u live an excellent life my mother, my mentor, my friend, my a whole lot of things…Why now jah? U knows what’s best tho!!!” Bounty Killer tweeted.
Bounty Killer is one of few dancehall artistes who has never shied away from paying homage to his mother via his music. In 1996 during the height of his feud with rival deejay Beenie Man, he release a mega hit single titled “Miss Ivy Last Son.”
Bounty Killer has also accompanied his mother to church on numerous occasions, including his recent slew of legal troubles and his infamous assault on a female with an hammer in 2010.
