Dancehall rivals Vybz Kartel and Mavado reportedly slept in the same cell last night after turning themselves into the Constant Spring police yesterday.
Both deejays are now being questioned by detectives in the presence of their lawyers, Chris Tavares-Finson representing Mavado and Vybz Kartel’s attorney Valerie Nieta-Robertson – about serious crimes committed in parts of the St Andrew North Police Division.
Both artistes were listed as persons of interest by the St Andrew North police on Tuesday after a release was issued by the Constabulary Communication Network.
Reports are that Mavado whose real name is David Brooks and Vybz Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer will be questioned in relation to the shooting of two young men last Friday on Manning’s Hill Road in St Andrew.
This is the second time this year a warrant was issued for the arrest of Gaza owned Vybz Kartel. In July, he was held by the St Catherine South police for about two weeks under the state of emergency which was imposed on the parish.
Mavado has had his fair share of runnings with the law as two years ago he was arrested and charged on two counts of shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm, stemming from an incident in 2007, in relation to an incident on Mannings Hill Road, on July 27 of that year, when two persons were reportedly shot.
