Religious Organizations in Guyana Slams Gay Film Festival

Despite attacks from the gay community in Guyana, Christians, Hindus, Muslims, and Bahia’is from the Inter-Religious Organization (IRO) are hitting back. The religious organizations slams last month staging of a gay and lesbian film festival in the country. According to an insider, openly gay people are increasing by the numbers in Guyana and the Religious groups are not having it.

Guyana like Jamaica is one of many Caribbean nations chastised for having anti-gay laws. The Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination (SASOD), a few months back filed documents in court challenging this colonial law that bans cross dressing after an incident occurred where a few gay individuals were arrested and harassed.

  1. Laws against homosexual activities in Guyana have led to hara$$ment, discrimination, vigilante justice and high levels of HIV infection in the LGBT community, according to a report from the University of the West Indies Faculty of Law in Barbados.

This law against buggery should be ended even for the sake of only one innocent straight women who won’t get infected.

Let God judge sin not the police in people’s private bedrooms.
