YG has had another run-in with the law.
A large contingent of police officers converged on YG‘s mansion in Los Angeles following a shooting incident involving his SUV. According to FOXLA, deputies obtained a search warrant to raid the west coast rapper’s home looking for evidence in connection with a deputy-involved shootout that left an innocent bystander dead on July 3.
YG was not home during the raid, but several people were detained. No arrests were made, FOXLA said.
On July 3 deputies began to pursue the driver of a Cadillac Escalade that was registered to YG, whose real name is Kennon Jackson. During the chase, someone in the vehicle began to shoot at deputies with an assault rifle, according to reports. The suspect also fired shots at a sheriff’s helicopter.
Deputies returned gunfire and a bystander, 65-year-old Ricky Cornell Starks, was killed, though it was unclear if deputies or the suspect shotted him. During the incident, YG was in a Hollywood studio recording until midnight of the 4th of July, he said on Twitter two days after the shootout.
I was nowhere near the scene of this incident, I was in Hollywood recording in the studio all day. I was there until after midnight on the 4th of July and didn’t learn of these events until after they happened!

The chase ended, and the suspects fled YG’s truck on foot. One man was arrested, but the other suspect and the assault rifle had not been found.
Deputies told the Associated Press that there was “no concrete link” between YG and shooting beside his vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
It has been a rough 2019 for YG starting with the murder of his fellow Westcoast rapper and friend Nipsey Hussle back in March. YG has been vocal about struggling to grieve Nipsey’s tragic death and performed during his tribute at the 2019 BET Awards.
At the end of June, YG’s rap associate Slim 400 was shot 10 times in Compton. Slim made it through and was in stable condition after rumors swirled that he was dead.
