Nicki Minaj’s newest hit song “Chun-Li” is now certified gold.
Nicki Minaj confirmed that her much talked about new banger “Chun-Li” has sold over 500,000 copies in the United States which means her gold plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA, is on the way. “Chun-Li has been certified GOLD. Thank you to everyone for your support,” Nicki wrote on IG.
Nicki Minaj says she recorded the song in five minutes while vibing with her producers in the studio. Now “Chin-Li” is one of her biggest hits after peaking in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Got on the mic & made this song up in 5 mins just having fun @ 4 in the morning,” she said. “Then took about an hour to put words to the melody. Released it 2 days later. We captured it all on video.”
The Young Money rapper also revealed that she is working on a new documentary and will be including the footage from her studio session while making “Chun-Li” in that documentary. “Thinking about putting that part of the documentary out early so you guys can get a real glimpse into my world,” she added. “Love you so much & can’t wait to share this album with all of you who’ve waited so patiently & been so supportive.”
Nicki Minaj is currently readying her new album QUEEN set for release on August 10th. Last week, she announced during an Instagram Live session that her label made the decision to push back the project’s release two months to give her more time to prepare for the roll-out. In an effort to appease her disappointed fans, Nicki will be making some big announcements on June 15th, which is the original release date for the album. One of the big announcements will likely be the album cover and or tracklist.
