Kodak Black is one step closer to getting out of jail after three of the seven felony charges against him dropped.
Kodak was arrested in January and slapped seven felony charges including weapon possession while on probation, probation violation, marijuana possession, grand theft of a firearm, and child endangerment. His attorney argued that the gun and the drugs were not his and even asked cops to prove that they are real. Interestingly there was no body cam footage from the police raid and that might have impacted the case in the rapper’s favor.
Kodak Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, was on Instagram Live when cops turned up at his home with a search warrant. His live feed was still being broadcast on his Instagram account while cops were raiding the premises. Although the camera didn’t capture what police officers were doing, there was some audio footage. Officers did seize his phone during the raid.
The Pompano Beach rapper’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, manages to get three charges dropped, TMZ reported. His child neglect, grand theft of a firearm, and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a delinquent, charges were dismissed according to Cohen.
Last month, Urban Islandz reported that Bradford Cohen filed legal documents asking a judge to have the firearm tested for prints because it does not belong to his client. Seems he was right because now he doesn’t have the weapon charges to contend with. The other charges are still pending and could result in some jail time since he was under house arrest and on probation at the time of the arrest.
Kodak Black also has a pending sexual misconduct case before the courts following his indictment in October last year. A trial date for that case is not yet set, but his next court hearing is set for tomorrow where he will apply for bail.
