Chris Brown is having a massive yard sale at his home, and the cops aren’t happy about it.
It isn’t every day that a megastar, the likes of singer Chris Brown just willingly gives out their home address on the internet. It is even less common that celebrities invite fans to pull up to their houses, but Chris Brown isn’t known for being a “regular” celeb. The “Indigo” singer invited fans and his nearly 60 million social media followers to come to his house for a massive yard sale where he promised to give them access to marked-down designer items straight from his closet. The two-day event got underway Wednesday morning and drew tons of fans to his Tarzana, CA, property, which of course, got the attention of law enforcement as well.
According to TMZ, LAPD also pulled up to Chris Brown’s home to try and shut the entire yard sale down. Police told the 30-year-old pop star that he did not have a proper permit to host a garage sale. But Chris’ legal team clapped back and said that he did not need a permit in the section of L.A. where his $4.3 million mansions reside. It turns out they were right, and there was nothing the cops could do to stop it despite the many complaints from neighbors as fans lined up around the block.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that they were concerned about “the impact [of the yard sale] on the community” and “the safety of the people who are there.” But so far, reports are that the crowd was chilling, not causing any problems whatsoever. Chris Brown opened the gates for fans to thrift his items at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning and he planned to end the sale by 7 p.m. But fans began to line up near his home Tuesday night after the announcement was made.
Chris Brown posted aerial footage of his driveway to his Instagram story that showed tons of tents set up that were filled with clothes and other items. So, all in all, it seemed like a pretty good idea.
