Rihanna Creates History On Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart

Rihanna is the first artist to ever have five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart in a single year.

The Bajan pop princess is still rocking up big numbers on Billboard charts despite not dropping any new music in almost two years. Her last album “ANTI” was released early 2016 and debut at number one on the 200 album chart. The singles off the album continue to do well through 2017 and her song “Desperado” became the fifth song from the album to enter the Dance Club Songs Chart this year.

Female artists have dominated this chart since it’s inception and currently, Madonna has the most entries of all time on the chart with 46 entries. Rihanna is at second with 32, Beyonce third at 22, Janet Jackson fourth with 19, and Katy Perry rounding out the top five with 18 entries. Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Katy Perry, all have four entries in a single calendar year. Rihanna has now surpassed them scoring her fifth entry on the chart for the year this week. She also scored four singles on the chart at least four times already, in 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2016.

So far this year on the chart we’ve seen songs like “Wild Thoughts” with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller, “Love on the Brain,” “Sex With Me,” and “Pose” topping the chart. Then in October “Desperado” climbed to the top of the chart after only being on it for seven weeks.
