Jazz legend Al Jarreau died on Sunday at the age of 76.
The Jazz-pop icon passed away at a Los Angeles hospital early Sunday (Feb 12) from an unknown illness. He was surrounded by his wife and a few other close family members including his son. Al Jarreau is a seven times Grammy Winner and has a career in music that span half a century.
In a statement posted on his official website, his team thanked his fans for their support over the years. The message also stats that he recently retired from touring due to exhaustion and was recovering before his death. The true cause of his not was not released in the statement, but over the last few years he suffered from a number of cardiac and respiratory issues.
Al Jarreau is best known for his 1991 classic single “We’re in This Love Together.” He has previously performed at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in 1998 and again in 2000.
