Lupita Nyong’o Wins Oscar, Deliver Powerful Speech [VIDEO]

Lupita Nyong’o is having the time of her life after winning an Oscar award for Best Supporting Actress.

The Kenyan actress beat out stiff competition from actress Jennifer Lawrence to win the Oscar for her role in the hit movie 12 Tears A Slave.

Lupita Nyong’o is also receiving high praise for her fashion choices and her powerful acceptance speech.

“It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is due to so much pain in someone else’s,” Nyong’o said.

Lupita also thanked director Steve McQueen for casting her in the movie that transformed her life.

“Thank you for putting me in this position,” she said. “It has been the joy of my life. When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.”

Lupita Nyong’o played the role of the tragic slave Patsey in 12 Years A Slave. The movie also won an Oscar for Best Picture.
