The late reggae/dancehall star Wayne Hamilton, aka Captain Barkey, was laid to rest in an emotional funeral service in Kingston on Thursday, November 8.
Scores of family, friends and fans converged on the Hagley Park Road Seventh Day Adventist Church for a final farewell to one of dancehall’s finest 1990s deejays.
Among those in attendance were Captain Barkey’s longtime friend and fellow deejay Wickerman, his mother Irene Clarke, George Nooks, Daddy Lizad, Cutty Ranks and more.
Barkey’s body was buried at Up Park Camp in St Andrew.
Captain Barkey and a female friend, Tracey Bennett, were shot and killed last month in Bronx by Bennett’s ex-boyfriend, Joseph Kernizan.
Kernizan, an Haitain born promoter, committed suicide in Florida after NYPD officials attempted to capture him in Florida just days after the shooting.
