Sizzla Gets Green Light To Perform In Sweden Despite Gay Protest

Reggae star Sizzla Kalonji was given the okay to perform at a concert in Stockholm, Sweden, tonight despite gay protests.

Sources close to Sizzla told Urban Islandz that Swedish reggae fans were angry after learning that the show was cancelled.

“Kalonji is currently in Sweden after receiving a call from the promoter that they get the go ahead for the concert,” the source said.

“Europe is one of the biggest reggae music market in the world and fans there want to see Kalonji perform,” the source added.

Last week the promoters revealed that they were forced to cancel the show due to outcry from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community. Gay activist claims that the reggae singer’s lyrics advocate violence towards homosexuals.

In a statement release to the media earlier this week, Sizzla said he is prepared to abide by laws in any country he is booked to perform.

“It is his nature and character to respect all,” the statement read.

Members of the Protect Reggae Coalition also backed up Sizzla’s statement, saying that the singer has censored his own material while on his last tour.
