Buju Banton Gets To Keep His Assets

Incarcerated reggae star Buju Banton can breath a sigh of relief as it was revealed that he will get to keep his assets although he was convicted on drug crimes.

Banton attorney, David Markus, made the disclosure in an interview with the Jamaica Observer, after speculations from legal experts hinted that the artists assets could be confiscated by the US government.

Markus said, “There was no basis in law or in fact for the government to go after Buju’s assets. The so-called lawyer who was going around saying that the government could and would try to take Buju’s assets does not understand the basic tenets of the US legal system and he should not be relied on.”

Buju Banton was sentence to 10 years behind bars on Thursday (June 23) by Federal judge Jim moody. Banton is expected to serve at least 6 out of the 10 years.
