Trial Date Set For Bounty Killer Weapon Possession Charges

Jamaican dancehall kingpin Rodney Pryce aka Bounty Killer is having his fair share of legal troubles of late. On Monday when the artist appeared in court he learned that he will stand trial for an incident that took place in 2007. The date for the trial will be October 20, 2010.

The dancehall deejay was charged jointly with an ex-policeman, Calis Brown, for illegal possession of a firearm, unlawful wounding and assault of a police officer. The incident occurred on September 27, 2007, when the police constable drove into a convoy of vehicles owned by Bounti Killa and members of his entourage along St. Lucia Avenue in New Kingston.

The Constable reportedly tooted his horn to be allowed through and this led to an altercation with members of the DJ’s entourage. Rodney Pryce allegedly pulled a gun and Constable Calis Brown who was in the group, proceeded to beat his fellow officer. Brown was subsequently dismissed from the force in 2008, where he and Pryce was charged and will now stand trial
