Bob Marley ‘Legend’ Album Makes UK’s Top 60 List

Thirty five years after his death, Bob Marley has scored another major accolade.

The United Kingdom Official album chart has compiled their list of 60 best-selling albums of all time. The list is in commemoration of the chart’s 60 years of existence.

Bob Marley’s “Legend” album ranked No. 16 on the list. The album was released in 1984 on Island Records and has since sold 25 million copies world wide. Legend has been widely regarded as the best-selling reggae album of all time and is ranked No. 46 on the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Some of the tracks on the compilation have become anthems that embedded themselves into the very fabric of Jamaican culture. Singles such as “Exodus,” “Redemption Song,” and “No Woman, No Cry” have also become world wide anthems for decades.

Michael Jackson has two albums in the top 10, “Bad” released in 1987 at No. 9 and his 1982 classic “Thriller” at No. 6. Adele’s 2011 album “21” took the No. 4 spot. The No. 1 spot goes to Queen’s 1981 album “Greatest Hits.

The reggae king, better known as, Bob Marley, died in 1981 from cancer.
