Bob Marley’s Brother Files Countersuit

Bob Marley must be churning in his grave right now as the fight over his legacy continues.

Last year Bob’s widow Rita Marley and 9 of his children filed a lawsuit against his half brother Richard Booker for trademark infringement. The lawsuit claims that Booker is selling almost everything using Bob’s name, from food, booze and concert tickets.

Now, Booker, who had the same mother as the reggae legend, filed a countersuit against 56 Hope Road Music, the company controlling Bob’s estate.

In the court documents, Booker says he’s using the family name “with the consent, authorization and by the instruction” of Bob Marley and their mother, Cedella.

Richard Booker wants the court to throw out the estate’s lawsuit against him.
