Beenie Man Explains Why He Called For Media Personality To Be Fired

Beenie Man found himself in some hot water recently for calling for the firing of a popular media figure.

The dancehall legend publicly called for the ousting of the general manager of radio services at the RJRGLEANER Communications Group, Dr. Dennis Howard. Beenie Man was performing at a popular weekly show in Kingston when he made the remarks calling for his fans to help get Howard removed from one of Jamaica’s most recognized media outfits.

“Me want unuh help me kill dah bwoy deh name Dennis Howard not physically, but career,” Beenie said on stage. “Me want unuh help me get him fired from the radio station.”

The RJRGLEANER Communications Group fired back in a scathing statement asking the deejay to retract his statement. Beenie Man issued a statement through his publicist explaining why he went on the public rant.

“I have no personal issues with Dr Dennis Howard,” he said. “Radio is losing a lot of the disc jocks who are the ones waving the banner for dancehall. The level of dancehall programming has diminished, and I just want more visibility on the airwaves.”

He also added that his remarks were not meant as a threat to the life of Howard or anyone else.
