Demarco is the newest signee to Akon’s label KonLive label.
The dancehall deejay inked a three-album deal with the label founded by the hip hop star. Demarco also signed on to En-Treeg Management which is an artist management company founded by Akon’s wife Rozina Negusei who is a well-connected music business executive in the U.S. Demarco also relocated back to Atlanta earlier this year where he has been spending most of his time working on his career.
“Demarco is a very talented and creative,” Negusei said. “He can write, produce and he’s easy to work with. He was introduced to me by Mixmaster David (popular Jamaican disc jock) who brought him to my house. We listened to him, went through his music and it was amazing. We were impressed.”
Part of the reasons why Demarco chooses to relocate to Atlanta is his plan to focus on a more global audience. The dancehall deejay, whose real name is Collin Demar Edwards, join the likes of Kardinal Offishall, Jamaican duo Brick and Lace, and Lady Gaga who previously called KonLive their home. The deal that Demarco signed with KonLive is a three-album deal and the deejay is already working on the first album.
