Vybz Kartel seems genuinely ready to settle down, glowingly describing his fiancée, Sidem Ozturk, and their planned wedding for the new year, which will include both of their families.
Kartel and Ozturk have been engaged for several years, but their relationship only came into the spotlight earlier this year after he made the engagement announcement public while in prison, awaiting the outcome of his appeal.
Many Worl Boss fans felt he was using Sidem to generate excitement and publicity around his release. Still, the artist has ensured that the world understands his commitment to Sidem is serious, as he formally proposed to her weeks ago.
The couple has been inseparable since, and the artist reveals that they plan to marry in early 2025. However, they had to push back the date so that both of their families could travel and be part of the celebrations.
While talking to Capital Xtra, the artist shared that he and Sidem met on social media years ago. Sidem is of Turkish descent and hails from Harpenden. Still, she connected with the artist on a cerebral and emotional level, offering him support as he battled to overturn his murder conviction.
“She was on Instagram, and I saw her, and she caught my eye. She put herself in a position to be eye-catched, [sic]” the artist joked about their meeting. “She was giving me words of comfort, motivation, and one thing led to another, and in a few years, she actually came to Jamaica,” he said.
Ozturk previously revealed that she first visited the artist in 2015. However, he said he told her to move to Jamaica to live in 2022. “I told her, ‘Yow, I need you to come to Jamaica to live’. She was like, ‘No, my job, my parents,’” he said, adding that he pushed back, telling him about his money and hinting at taking care of her.
Sidem has been living at the artist’s mansion, and he bought her a Mercedes Benz for her convenience. As for the wedding plans, the artist had planned the wedding for January 7, 2025, but he said they will extend the date to February to ensure all of their family members can attend.
However, the artist was adamant that the wedding would occur “no later than February.” Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was previously married to New York banker Stacy Elliot in 2006.
