J. Cole Breaks The Internet With New Album “KOD” Announcement

J. Cole just proves he is already a rap legend.

The Dreamville rapper broke the internet when he announced his new album Kids On Drugs, aka KOD, due on Friday, 4/20. Interestingly, J. Cole is releasing a new album about drugs on the official holiday that we celebrate weed. That’s definitely not a coincidence. There are some working titles for the true meaning behind KOD including Kids on Drugs, Killing Our Demons, and King Overdose.

On Monday, the Roc Nation rapper surprised his fans with a free concert in New York City after having only announced the show on Twitter a couple hours before. “NYC. Come through. Couple hours from now. First come first serve,” he tweeted. After the show, he announced the new album on his timeline without giving out any further details. “New album. KOD 4/20,” he wrote.

J. Cole has become notorious for dropping albums with only short notices and limited promotional runs. His third album 2014 Forest Hills Drive was released with only a short notice window and then project quickly reached platinum status. He then embarked on a short tour to promote the album that grossed over $16 million with more than half a million tickets sold including two sold-out shows at Madison Square Gardens in New York City.
