Hip Hop star Eminem, Barbadian popstar Rihanna and R&B singer Usher were among the big winners at Sunday night 2010 American Music Awards.

Justin Bieber was the overall ruler of the awards with two major awards given to the teen pop sensation.

Rihanna opened the show with a performance of her hit singles “What’s My Name” and “Only Girl” before taking home the award for ‘Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist’ presented to her by Nicki Minaj, who she slapped on the behind while walking off stage.

Eminem, who did not attend last night’s ceremony, won Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for “Recovery.”

Usher also took to the stage to perform his dance/pop hit “OMG” and took home two AMAs for ‘Favorite Soul/R&B Album’ and ‘Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist.’

Will.i.am and his Black Eyed Peas took home the award for Favorite Pop Rock Band/Duo/Group before performing their new single “This Time (The Dirty Bit).”
