Vybz Kartel Unite Gully and Gaza Fans After Calling Mavado His Brother

"Me and Mavado we create a big column in dancehall"

Vybz Kartel sparked an unusual unity between Gully and Gaza fans after referring to Mavado as his brother.

The Worl’Boss sat down for an interview with Keyshia Ka’oir where he opened up about life behind bars, his new lease on life, his private life with his fiancee Sidem Ozturk, and his relationships with his former foe Mavado. The Gully and Gaza feud was one of the most notorious beefs in dancehall history, spanning the greater part of the 2000s decade. The lyrical feud fizzled out after the two artists decided to make peace publicly after some fans, especially high school kids, started hurting each other.

Keyshia Ka’oir asked Vybz Kartel about the status of his relationship with Mavado, and the dancehall legend responded, “A me bro that man.”

“Me and Mavado we create a big column in dancehall through that clashes,” Kartel said. “And funny enough we came from the same camp, which is The Alliance, Bounty Killer. Bounty is the Warlord so his sons.”

A quick check on their Instagram profiles would show that Vybz Kartel and Mavado are now following each other. The Gullyside singer also used his platform to call for Kartel’s freedom while the former Portmore Empire deejay fought for his life in the courts. Evidently, no love has been lost between the two artists, who once had a bitter rivalry, and now their fans are coming together in a show of unity.

“Growth is such a good thing, love that for him, and as a Gaza fan mi love Mavado same way so big up the Gully Gad,” one fan wrote. Another fan said, “Love this for him and Mavado love to see the show of unity dancehall need more of this no matter which artist we support we still support all the artist one dancehall.”

Despite Vybz Kartel’s gesture, don’t expect to see Mavado performing at the Freedom Street concert on New Year’s Eve at the National Stadium since he now lives in Florida after fleeing Jamaica to avoid potential criminal charges involving a murder in Cassava Piece. Vado’s son is currently serving life in prison for said case.
