Digicel Revamped Rising Stars, New Judges

Telecom giant Digicel announced last week that they have revamp the popular Jamaican talent TV show Rising Stars.

According to reports, season eight of the show will see a new panel of judges, new host and format that the organisers say will bring new energy to the popular televised talent hunt show.

Former Miss Jamaica World Terri-Karelle Reid has been appointed the new host, while DJ Bambino and singer Tessanne Chin are the new judges.

“Each week, the two resident judges will be joined by a guest judge,” Digicel said in a news release.

Digicel added: “This year, the Live Show finalists will be cut down to 12 (from last year’s 16) and will be chosen only by the judges and producers from the five auditions. In this way, the producers can guarantee that quality will make the live stage rather than popularity.”

A DRS (Digicel Rising Stars) Fast Pass, which gives lucky persons the chance to skip the preliminary stages at auditions and go straight through to be viewed by the judges, is also being introduced this year, Digicel said.

Auditions for this season of Digicel Rising Stars begins May 21 in May Pen, Clarendon and will be aired on Sunday, June 19 on TVJ.
