R. Kelly was arrested again, this time by the feds.
The 52-year-old singer was arrested in Chicago late Thursday evening by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigation agents, according to NBC New York. Kelly was hit with sex trafficking charges, News 4 reports, and will be brought to New York.
In February the Chicago-born R&B star was charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse involving multiple victims, three of which were minors – a case that is still ongoing. In June, Kelly was back in court facing 11 new felony sex assault charges and various abuse in Illinois, to which he pled not guilty.
TMZ reports that the newest charges are found in a 13-count indictment that includes charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice. Legal documents show Kelly is accused of forcing contact between his penis and the alleged victim’s mouth and committing an act of sexual penetration in January 2010, when the victim was a minor, according to TMZ.
Many credit Kelly’s recent legal troubles to the fallout that stemmed from “Surviving R. Kelly,” a Lifetime docuseries that aired in January which presented accounts from several women, including Kelly’s ex-wife Andrea Kelly, who alleged Kelly held women against their will and prayed on them when they were underage.
In 2008, R. Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges that came after a graphic video showed a man, believed to be Kelly, having sex with a girl as young as 13.
Kelly has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.
In March he broke his silence in an explosive interview with Good Morning America co-host Gayle King where he continued to deny the accusations. Hours after the interview aired, Kelly was taken to custody following a court appearance for unpaid child support.
R. Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg has maintained Kelly’s innocence, claiming the accusers were all liars.
