Reggae icon Sizzla Kalonji thrills audience at a special performance for Nigerian Diplomats at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel recently.
Kalonji was one of several selected local acts performing at a reception for visiting Nigerian Foreign Minister Olugbenga Ashiru and his wife, Kehinde.
The event was hosted by Nigerian High Commissioner to Jamaica, Peter Oyedele.
Sizzla performs several of his hit songs such as Solid As A Rock, Holding Firm and Praise He Jah. Also sharing the stage with Sizzla was the Stella Maris Dance Ensemble and Hanover’s Ettu Dance Troupe.
At the end of his set Sizzla use the opportunity to call for closer ties with the African Diaspora and the African continent.
“It would solidify our connection spiritually, culturally, and on all terms because Africa is the Motherland. Having merchandise which we can trade, cultural exchange and stuff like that … for years the Rastaman has been wanting to go to Africa,” he said to the Observer.
