The eleven-year-old hit single “Gold Dust” is keeping DJ Fresh and Ce’Cile’s names fresh in the headlines.

The 2010 song was certified double-platinum in the United Kingdom, with sales exceeding 1.2 million copies. The British Phonographic Industry issued the well-deserved certification on Friday, July 16, 2021. In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, Ce’Cile, who was not aware of the development beforehand, noted that this new certification is an inspiration.

“This is just so cool. It just helps me to remember to do music and just continue to work hard,” she said. The “Can You Do The Work” singer explained how the collaboration with DJ Fresh came about.

“I have to say big up to DJ Fresh for sending me that track. He felt it would match my sound, and I did it,” she said.

Ce’Cile also disclosed that she still has links with the “Hot Right Now” artiste, who is known for producing electronic music and working with some of the biggest stars including Rita Ora and Sian Evans.

“He’s someone who I’ve kept in contact with over the years,” Ce’Cile informed.

The first release of “Gold Dust” in 2008 featured vocals from British singer Ms. Dynamite, but another version with Ce’Cile was released two years later. This version, which was the third single on DJ Fresh’s second studio album, “Kryptonite,” climbed to number 22 on the United Kingdom Top 100 chart. The song also charted at number 39 in Ireland.

The 44-year-old DJ Fresh, born Daniel Edward Stein, has eight top 10 hit songs in the UK. This includes “Hot Right Now” featuring Rita Ora and “Louder” featuring Sian Evans, which were both number one singles. Globally, DJ Fresh has sold more than 2.8 million singles.

Meanwhile, the 47-year-old Jamaican diva Ce’Cile made her big breakthrough on the music scene in 2000 with her chart-topping single “Changez.” She later continued to contribute to the Dancehall scene, making hits such as “Waiting,” “Hot Like We,” and “Can You Do the Wuk.”

Her latest body of work, “Sophisticated,” was released in April. It includes a number of promising songs such as “Over and Over” and “Come Over.”
