Popcaan Pays Homage To Miss World Toni-Ann Singh, A St. Thomas Native

Popcaan is celebrating a big win for a fellow St. Thomas native, Toni-Ann Singh.

Yesterday, a new Miss World was crowned for 2019, and the pageant queen is none other than Jamaican, Women’s Studies, and Psychology student, Toni-Ann Singh. The 23-year-old beauty was born and raised in St. Thomas, Jamaica – the same parish as popular dancehall artiste Popcaan. The Unruly Boss was among a slew of dancehall artistes who paid homage to Singh following her crowning in London on Saturday, December 14, making her the fourth Jamaican in history to win the Miss World crown.

Jamaican everywhere were beyond excited to celebrate the historic win. Popcaan took to Instagram to congratulate Toni-Ann and let her know she has his support. Alongside the video of Miss World 2019 taking the catwalk with her crown for the first time, Poppy wrote, “There’s a total different light shining on st Thomas parish right now, and it makes me very happy to see someone else from the parish flourishing and making us all proud. Go Toni Ann you have me and my whole team support #MissWorld2019,” Popcaan said.

Dre Island, the reggae artist who collaborated with Popcaan on their hit “We Pray” also took to the comments to chime in. “Black women is the definition of ‘Beauty,'” Dre said. The Prime Minister of Jamaica also showed love to Toni-Ann through an Instagram post that congratulated her on the win.

“We have the biggest hearts and most talented people! Congratulations @toniannsingh on winning the crown #MissWorld2019,” The Honorable Andrew Holness wrote. “You made us so proud. Continue to be a fantastic role model for our young women in Jamaica.”

Congratulations, Toni-Ann Singh, Miss World 2019!
