Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Popcaan Shine At Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise

Damian Marley’s sixth Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise is well underway and the Reggae/Dancehall artistes aboard who were booked, have been having the time of their lives, in what was a sold-out musical trip.

The official Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise ship, the Independence Of The Seas, set sail on Monday from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, and docked in Ocho Rios yesterday and then visited Falmouth this morning. It will return to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.

The cruise features a galaxy of stars including Buju Banton, Popcaan, Stephen Marley, Tarrus Riley, Bounty Killer, Julian Marley, Marcia Griffiths, Capleton, Morgan Heritage, Mighty Diamonds, Pinchers, Sister Nancy, Everton Blender, Christopher Martin, Skip Marley among others.

Clips have been posted online of some of the Reggae and Dancehall champions in action, including Bounty Killer performing songs such as including Look into My Eyes and Cellular Phone; Buju Banton belting out Destiny and other hits and Popcaan performing his hit Clarks among others.

The cruise kick-started with a Sail Away party on Monday evening on the main deck, which featured performances by the Mighty Diamonds, Everton Bender and Tarrus Riley. Night two saw performances by Stephen Marley and Damion, who were the show-closers.

Damian announced the opening of bookings for the 2020 cruise, weeks ahead of the 2019 staging. The 2020 cruise will take place aboard the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas, sailing from December 5-10, 2020, from Fort Lauderdale, with stops in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.
The Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise has become one of the most in-demand Reggae gatherings in the world and has sold out every year since Junior Gong started it 2014.

Reggae lovers from more than 25 countries have joined the cruise each year to immerse themselves in Reggae and Jamaican culture. Welcome to Jamrock is a complete festival with musical performances, entertainment, food, fitness, and wellness activities, and according to Marley, it is a mission of his for the cruise to embody Jamaica’s rich culture.

The comforts of the cruise ship Independence of the Seas is being lapped up by the Jamaican celebrities there, who are basking in the lap of luxury. The ship comprises a surf simulator, rock-climbing wall, cantilevered whirlpools, a mini-golf course, water slides, among other amenities.
