Reports of a Beyonce Las Vegas residency in 2020 are not true.

We have heard surprisingly little from Queen Bey since dropping The Lion King: The Gift earlier this year, but according to new reports, Beyoncé is planning a Las Vegas residency that will be announced early next year. If the residency becomes official, Beyoncé will become the highest-paid entertainer on the strip, out-earning other superstars with current residencies including Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, and Gwen Stefani. This would be Bey’s second run of shows in Vegas, after recording the live album I Am…Yours: An Intimate Performance at Wynn Las Vegas in 2009.

The Beyhive was buzzing with excitement after the reports came out, although some fans find the news hard to believe, and for good reasons. Taking to Twitter, one fan commented, “A Vegas residency seems so restrictive and limited. Beyoncé loves to travel and connect with different cultures. I can’t see her compromising her big shows for that.” While many agreed that the announcement seemed uncharacteristic of the dynamic performer, others felt that the timing makes a lot of sense. One Twitter user wrote, “She’s a mother of 3, she’s nearly her 40’s…the most logical thing for her and her family is to sill perform every day but also taking care of her kids and her body.”

Based on Beyoncé historical pattern of work, many fans were expecting her next move to be a new album and an accompanying world tour. However, other fans are pointing out that her Vegas residency is sure to be at a higher caliber than any other artists performing on the strip, especially given the way she took her 2018 Coachella performance to an entirely different level in both quality and duration. There has been no official announcement about the residency from Beyoncé or her team at this point, but we should know within the coming months.

The BeeHive were right to be skeptical about the reports. According to Variety, Beyonce reps say reports of the planned residency is not true.
