JAY-Z Celebrates 50th Birthday By Dropping All His Music On Spotify

JAY-Z gave Spotify and his fans a huge birthday gift as he turns 50.

December 4th this year is quite a milestone for the “Family Feud” rapper as it marks 5 records that he has been around. Of those 50 years, 24 have been in the music industry with HOV establishing Roc-A-Fella Records as an independent label with Damon Dash and Kareem “Big” Burke in 1995. Twenty years later, JAY-Z acquired streaming service TIDAL which has over 3 million subscribers in 54 countries. TIDAL users had exclusive access to the Grammy award winner’s thirteenth studio album, 4:44, for its first week when it dropped in 2017 before it was made available on other platforms like Apple Music, Google Play Music, and Amazon Music.

Factor in another two years and Jay-Z is now letting Spotify join the (birthday) party.

Coinciding with his 50th birthday, Mr. Carter has decided to allow his music to return to the streaming service following a 2-year absence.

“Happy birthday, Hov. Welcome back to Spotify,” the music streamer wrote.

Spotify fans will now not only be able to enjoy 4:44, but also Jay-Z’s past catalog, which includes Magna Carta Holy Grail, American Gangster, Hard Knock Life, The Black Album, and all three volumes of The Blueprint.

Aside from a pretty successful music career, the 50-year-old is also a pretty impressive businessman. In addition to their Roc-A-Fella label, he and Dash are also the founders of urban clothing brand Rocawear, which produces merchandise for men, women, and children. Jay-Z also has stakes in two alcohol products — Armand de Brignac champagne and D’ussé. And, to honor their hip hop star’s big day, the cognac brand has released just 50 bottles of a new expression called D’Ussé 1969 Anniversaire.

Now you know what to sip on while listening to Jay-Z’s entire back catalog on Spotify!
