Jacquees Confirms New Album ‘King Of R&B’ Dropping This Friday

Jacquees is not letting the King of R&B title go easily.

It’s been nearly a year since singer Jacquees sent the internet into mayhem after claiming he was the true “King of R&B.” The bold statement sparked debates and arguments across social media about who rightfully deserved that title and which generation had the best male singers. Things have since calmed down, and Jacquees was ready to put out an album in July that would supposedly back up his claims to the R&B thrown, but that project titled Round 2 was, for some reason, never released.

It looks like the “Bed” singer did some rebranding and decided to keep the momentum he got last December going, as he just announced the title of his next album is King of R&B, which is set to release this Friday, Nov. 8. The artwork posted to Jacquees’ Instagram Monday shows a close up of the singer’s face with his locks tied in a high bun while he sports a turtleneck and glasses.

The singer is very well known for his covers of popular songs — like Ella Mai’s “Trippin” and Daniel Caesar’s “Get You — so with this next album, he has a lot to prove of himself as an individual artist. To be the true “King of R&B,” you have to create your own sound that stands out among the best of the best. Jacquees clearly has a chip on his shoulder and feels he is very underrated. He even lashed out at BET this year for not handing him any nominations at the 2019 BET Awards.

So fans are very eager to see what he brings to the table this Friday with his new album. Will it live up to his self-proclaimed title, or is the name just a gimmick and another form of trolling?
